The annual cargo volume on the Incheon-Yantai route was approximately 30,000 tons as of last year, recording the highest trade volume among cities served in Shandong Province (such as Qingdao and Weihai). Since 2021, the corporation introduced Incheon Airport's logistics infrastructure and cargo route network, which ranked second worldwide in international air cargo last year. Air Incheon presented its cargo business status, cargo aircraft introduction status, strengths in the air cargo sector, and future plans.
Through this, the corporation expects to greatly contribute to creating new air cargo demand. China is one of the main target regions for transshipment cargo at Incheon Airport. Last year, among the total transshipment cargo volume at Incheon Airport (1,119,000 tons), the share of cargo volume on China routes was 21.9%, ranking second after the Americas (29.7%). Yantai is a city where the Korea-China Air Transport Liberalization Agreement is in effect, and major domestic companies such as LG Electronics and Hyundai Motor China Technology Research Institute have established local subsidiaries there.
Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, “We plan to strengthen customized marketing activities targeting key regions of Incheon Airport and accelerate the opening of new routes with high potential to continuously maintain our position as the world’s second-largest international cargo hub.”
