'Generative AI Startup Association' Launches on 25th
Aiming to Foster AI Ecosystem and Promote Investment Activation
A gathering of startups specializing in generative artificial intelligence (AI) businesses has been formed.
The 'Generative AI Startup Association (President Lee Se-young),' a consortium of startups in the generative AI sector, held its launch ceremony on the 25th at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Recently, the generative AI technology boom has been signaling changes across all areas of society. To foster a healthy AI ecosystem, cooperation and fair competition rules are needed among big tech companies, startups, government, academia, industry, and finance sectors.
The association announced its goal to contribute to open-source language model research and technological advancement through collaboration among startups, creating more opportunities and fulfilling social responsibility as a key player in the AI industry.
Lee Young, Minister of SMEs and Startups, expressed in a video congratulatory message, "At a time when nurturing the AI industry is nationally very important, I appreciate and welcome the voluntary establishment of the association by the top generative AI startups in Korea."
Ko Jin, Chairman of the Digital Platform Government Committee, attended the event and said, "For Korea to become a leading AI nation, AI startups at various layers must grow," adding, "I hope the association will become the cornerstone of our AI industry development."
The event was attended by Chairman Ko, Im Jung-wook, Director of the Startup Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and representatives from domestic and international big tech companies including SK Telecom, Naver Cloud, KT Cloud, Microsoft Korea, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Korea, and Samsung Electronics C-Lab.
Investment industry figures such as Song Eun-gang, CEO of Capstone Partners, and Kim Han-jae, CEO of Suije Neuris Partners, also attended, making the event a great success.
Currently, the association's member companies include 20 firms such as △Nouveau AI △Liner △Lytton Technologies △Liberty Labs △MassPresso △BHSN △Theta One Korea △Select Star △Superton △SnapTag △Sweet & Diner △Scatter Lab △Upstage △Onoma AI △Wecover Platforms △Gen IP △Coxwave △Poja Labs △FortyTwo Maru △Friendly AI (in alphabetical order).
President Lee Se-young of Lytton Technologies, who is also the association president, along with board members Kim Ki-jung (Coxwave), Kim Jong-yoon (Scatter Lab), Woo Chan-min (Liner), and Jeon Byung-gon (Friendly AI), took the stage together to deliver the inaugural address.
They stated, "To revitalize the AI ecosystem, we will create forums for communication and discussion, and strive for technology exchange, talent development, and investment activation."
They also said, "We take seriously various challenges and concerns such as misinformation, copyright issues, and personal information infringement to provide safe and healthy AI services," adding, "We will fully convey startups' voices and engage in discussions during the process of establishing autonomous guidelines and institutional regulations."
Finally, they expressed their ambition, saying, "We will enhance national competitiveness with better services and products, and promote healthy growth of the AI industry through public-private cooperation to achieve national agendas."
The association plans to start by gathering member companies' opinions on various issues, followed by hosting technology exchange events, conferences for communication across sectors, and publishing startup reports.
