Students from the Fire Safety Management volunteer club at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology conducted fire safety volunteer activities for elderly people living alone in the Busanjin-gu area on the 15th, in collaboration with the Busanjin-gu Volunteer Center.
During the volunteer activity, five students from the Fire Safety Management department visited elderly individuals living alone in the Busanjin-gu area along with welfare workers from the Busanjin-gu Volunteer Center, presenting fire extinguishers, installing standalone smoke detectors, and providing safety education.
Starting with this volunteer activity, 15 students from the Fire Safety Management department plan to sequentially visit 20 households of elderly people living alone in the Busanjin-gu area to carry out volunteer work.

Professor Tae-Young Byun, the supervising professor, said, “It was a rewarding time as our students, who will be responsible for safety in the future, participated in fire safety volunteer activities targeting local residents, contributing in a small way to protecting precious lives and property.”
He added, “This volunteer activity also enhanced their understanding of their major, and we will ensure that many students participate and continue these volunteer activities in the future.”
Center Director Hyang-Mi Kim expressed, “We sincerely appreciate the university’s active participation in volunteer activities that promote a culture of community sharing for the local society,” and added, “We hope this will serve as an opportunity for many students to engage in activities supporting elderly people living alone who are vulnerable to safety risks.”
The Fire Safety Management volunteer club plans to visit fire safety-vulnerable groups such as elderly people living alone in the community every year starting this year, installing fire detectors and extinguishers and providing safety education to contribute to fire prevention in the area.
