'Yongin Citizen's Day' Event Successfully Held... Over 40,000 Citizens Participated

Mayor Sang-il Lee "Will Present More Diverse Events Next Year"

The '28th Yongin Citizens' Day' festival, held on the 23rd and 24th at Yongin Mir Stadium in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province, concluded with the participation of over 40,000 citizens.

This year's event included the main event 'Yongin Citizen Festa' as well as the 'Cyber Science Festival' and 'Yongin Youth Festival'.


On the first day, the 23rd, Everland presented the 'Happy Thanksgiving Party' performance, and the Korean Folk Village showcased 'Pungmul Hangarak', a traditional music and dance performance. In the afternoon ceremony, officials from domestic and international sister cities also attended, including Nuruliza Awang Alip, mayor of Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, Lee Sang-ik, former mayor of Hampyeong County, Jeollanam-do, Lee Sang-hoon, vice mayor of Sacheon City, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Lee Hye-ok, vice county governor of Danyang County, Chungbuk.


On the 24th, various events continued, including a talk show by Lee Seung-hoon, the world champion of paper airplane aerobatics. The event concluded with the final stage of the 'Yongin Citizens' Song Festival' held on the afternoon of the 24th.


The city estimated that about 40,000 citizens visited Yongin Mir Stadium during the event period.


The city reported that its official social network service (SNS) followers increased by about 600 during the event period, and especially the YouTube channel 'Yongin-si JoaYong TV' surpassed 20,000 followers. 'JoaYong' is Yongin City's representative character inspired by the shape of a dragon.



Lee Sang-il, mayor of Yongin City, said, "I feel great satisfaction that citizens enjoyed the festival programs, which were richer than last year," and added, "Next year, we will prepare more diverse programs to meet more citizens."
