LG Electronics Unveils Korea's First Foldable Laptop
12-inch Laptop When Folded, 17-inch Tablet When Unfolded
OLED Contrast Ratio and Color Expression
Equipped with Intel 13th Generation Processor and More
LG Electronics announced on the 25th that it will launch the 'LG Gram Fold,' the first foldable laptop from a Korean brand.
The LG Gram Fold leverages the advantages of self-luminous OLED, which is thin and easy to bend because it does not require a backlight. When unfolded, the thickest part is 9.4mm thin, and when fully opened, it offers a large 17-inch screen (approximately 43cm diagonal), while folded it is a 12-inch screen (approximately 31cm diagonal).
LG Electronics enhanced the optimal UI/UX and connectivity with various peripheral devices to suit the form factor that transforms into a 12-inch laptop when folded, a 17-inch tablet when unfolded, and an e-book reader.
The LG Gram Fold features a 17-inch QXGA+ (1920×2560) high-resolution OLED touch display with a 4:3 aspect ratio. It delivers rich and natural color expression by meeting 99.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut standard set by the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI), as well as the advantages of OLED such as contrast ratio and black representation.
Equipped with Intel’s latest 13th generation processor and the newest low-power memory, it offers excellent performance. The product’s built-in three stereo speakers automatically detect left and right channels according to screen orientation to deliver optimal sound. It also supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby’s latest surround sound technology.
Despite having a large 17-inch screen and a high-capacity 72 watt-hour (Wh) battery, the device weighs approximately 1250g, ensuring excellent portability. The hinge area where the screen folds passed a durability test of 30,000 folds.
LG Electronics will start selling the LG Gram Fold through the LG Electronics online brand shop from the 4th of next month. From that day, customers can experience the LG Gram Fold firsthand at 20 LG Electronics Best Shops nationwide, including the unique experience space 'Geumseong Jeonpasa Refresh Center' located in Gyeongdong Market, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, The Hyundai Seoul, Gangseo Main Store, Gangnam Main Store, and Busan Main Store.
LG Electronics will add value to this new Gram product by engraving a unique serial number and selling it as a limited edition. The starting price is 4,990,000 KRW.
