According to the Songpa Police Station on the 24th, Ms. A was accused of fraud by three individuals on June 2, claiming she caused financial damage amounting to about 270 million won. The police have identified that Ms. A was in debt of several hundred million won and are examining the detailed transaction records.

Ms. A fell from the rooftop of an apartment in Jamsil-dong at around 7:29 a.m. the previous day. She was found in a state of cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital but ultimately passed away. It was confirmed that Ms. A’s maternal family lived in the same apartment.

During the investigation of Ms. A’s case, four other family members were found dead. The husband, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law were found dead in a villa in Songpa-gu, and the teenage daughter was found deceased at a hotel in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. A resident of the villa said, “They drove a nice car, so I thought they were well off. They said they were planning to move to a better house,” and added, “About two weeks ago, they put out their belongings, so I thought they were leaving, but I overheard relatives saying they had been scammed.”

The police discovered a will presumed to have been written by the husband and sister-in-law. It reportedly contained content about conflicts within the family over creditor-debtor issues. It was also confirmed that Ms. A stayed at the Gimpo hotel with her daughter the day before and left the hotel alone that morning. The exact cause of the daughter’s death will be determined through an autopsy.
