"Domestic Violence Surges During Holidays" Chungnam Police Specially Manage Households at Risk of Recurrence

According to the Chungnam Police Agency on the 24th, domestic violence reports received in the region during the Chuseok holidays from 2020 to 2022 averaged 35.3 cases per day.

Considering that the average daily domestic violence reports in the region over the past three years were 21.7 cases, this means that 13.6 cases (63%) more domestic violence reports were received during the holiday period compared to normal times.

Accordingly, the Chungnam Police have designated the period until the 3rd of next month as the "Chuseok Holiday Domestic Violence Special Management Enhancement" period and plan to carry out preventive activities to minimize domestic violence cases in the region.

First, they will analyze the reports and perpetrator characteristics of 567 households with a history of domestic violence reports in the region to identify high-risk families, then proactively prevent domestic violence occurrences during the special management period through phone calls or direct visits.

Additionally, information on high-risk families will be shared with local police, the Women and Juvenile Investigation Division, and the 112 Situation Room to ensure that if a domestic violence report is received from these households, rapid dispatch and perpetrator isolation will be prioritized to secure the safety of the victims.

During the special management enhancement period, the Chungnam Police will also coordinate with related organizations such as the Chungnam Provincial Government and city and county offices to secure emergency shelters and temporary accommodations for domestic violence victims, while simultaneously activating protection measures such as issuing smartwatches.
