Kang Seon-woo, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, stated at a National Assembly briefing room briefing, "Leader Lee will stop his hunger strike as of today, the 24th day of the hunger strike, and will begin full recovery treatment."
Spokesperson Kang explained, "The medical staff treating Leader Lee strongly recommended an immediate cessation of the hunger strike today," adding, "The medical team's opinion is that continuing the hunger strike would seriously endanger the patient's health."
He continued, "Additionally, the party's executive committee yesterday passed a resolution requesting the cessation of the hunger strike, and requests from various sectors to stop the hunger strike are also continuing."
Leader Lee plans to continue treatment at the hospital where he is currently admitted (Noksaek Hospital) for the time being.
Spokesperson Kang said, "In consultation with the medical staff, he intends to attend temporary external schedules such as court appearances."
