Gwangju Science Museum Hosts 'ArtScience Festival'

The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold the 'Art Science Festival' from the 6th to the 15th of next month.

The Art Science Festival is celebrating its 4th year this year and is held every October. It is Gwangju Science Museum's representative science culture festival.

Under the theme of 'Into the Scent of Autumn,' the festival is composed of three themes: ▲‘Art Science Land,’ which combines exhibitions and experiences ▲‘Art Science Academy,’ for learning and enjoyment ▲‘Art Science Fun & Fun,’ an event for participation.

At ‘Art Science Land,’ visitors can explore the secrets of scent and fascinating scent science through the ‘Rediscovery of Scent’ exhibition, as well as view the ‘Weather and Climate Photo Exhibition,’ the ‘5th Mass Art Contest Award-winning Works’ exhibition, and the ‘Nuriho Photo Exhibition.’

‘Art Science Academy’ offers scent-making experiences such as making your own soap and cinnamon garlands, as well as autumn-making experiences using natural materials like fallen leaves and twigs.

Participants can also join the Drone Academy Season 5 in collaboration with Buk-gu Office of Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Science Together program with Honam Regional Science Museums, and unique mobile science bus experiences.

‘Art Science Fun & Fun’ features a science flea market where people can practice environmental love by buying, selling, and exchanging used books and toys that are no longer used at home, as well as an autumn scent concert commemorating the 10th anniversary of the opening of Gwangju Science Museum.

In addition, various online events will be held. During the festival period, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful night view of the science museum through nighttime lighting.

Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director, said, “We have prepared a place for an autumn science culture festival where science and art harmonize through a fusion program themed around the scent of autumn, allowing everyone to participate and enjoy together.”

He added, “Especially this year, as it is a meaningful event marking the 10th anniversary of the opening, we hope that the whole family will come to the science museum, enjoy the science culture events, and have a happy time.”
