Emergency Economic Vice Ministers' Meeting Chaired by 1st Vice Minister of Ministry of Economy and Finance
The government will issue 300,000 accommodation coupons ahead of Chuseok next week.
On the 22nd, the government held an emergency economic vice ministerial meeting chaired by Kim Byung-hwan, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, at the Government Seoul Office to review the progress of measures to stabilize livelihoods during Chuseok. Vice Minister Kim first stated, “The prices of 20 major Chuseok seasonal products are maintained at a level 6.4% lower than during last year’s Chuseok period,” adding, “This is lower than the initial target (-5%).” He emphasized, “We will make every effort to stabilize Chuseok shopping basket prices through releasing remaining supply and providing discount support.”

In this regard, the government will release 300,000 accommodation coupons starting from the 27th. The accommodation coupon system provides a coupon that offers a 30,000 KRW discount through participating online travel agency channels when using accommodation facilities costing 50,000 KRW or more. The coupon issuance and check-in period will be from the 27th of this month to the 15th of next month.
At 145 traditional markets nationwide, an event is also being held to refund up to 40% of the purchase amount in Onnuri gift certificates. Vice Minister Kim said, “For Chuseok seasonal products, we are aiming to supply a record-high 160,000 tons, and as of the 20th, we have supplied 120,000 tons, achieving 120% of the plan.” He added, “The Onnuri gift certificate refund event (30-40% of the purchase amount) at 145 traditional markets nationwide started yesterday (the 21st) and will continue until the 27th, before Chuseok.”
Vice Minister Kim also said, “With the designation of October 2nd as a temporary holiday and the expansion of the gift amount limit for agricultural, livestock, and fishery products (from 200,000 to 300,000 KRW), sales of domestic tourism products and gift sets of agricultural, livestock, and fishery products are increasing.” He added, “We will make every effort to sustain the effect of stimulating domestic demand, including considering extending the ‘Hwanggeumnyeok Donghaeng Festival’ scheduled until the 27th.”
