2023 Ansimgadeung Plus Support Project Selection
On the 22nd, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it was finally selected in the 'Safe Streetlight Plus Support Project' contest hosted by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and the social welfare foundation Milal Welfare Foundation.
This contest is a project that supports the installation of 'Safe Streetlights' to enhance safety in crime-vulnerable areas, and Icheon City was included among the seven local governments eligible for support.
Safe streetlights generate electricity through solar power, eliminating the need for external power supply, and can be used for about a week on a single charge, which reduces not only electricity bills but also greenhouse gas emissions.
As a result of being selected in this contest, the city plans to sign a business agreement with the Milal Welfare Foundation and install 30 safe streetlights by November: 20 on the bicycle road in Mojeon-ri, Baeksa-myeon, and 10 at Doji Elementary School.
Meanwhile, the city was also selected for the 'Firefly Hope Project,' which provides emergency living expenses to vulnerable groups. Accordingly, the city plans to provide support worth a total of 10 million won to crisis households in welfare blind spots.
Kim Kyung-hee, mayor of Icheon City, said, "With the budget saved through this contest, we will take the lead in creating safe routes home by installing streetlights in vulnerable areas not included in the project section."
