Gyeongbuk Sangju City announced on the 22nd that the grand prize of the "2023 4th Sangju City Entrepreneur Award" was awarded to Park Daehyun, CEO of Hamra A1, and the excellence award was given to Lim Juwon, CEO of Euncheok Brewery.
The Sangju City Entrepreneur Award is given to exemplary entrepreneurs who have contributed to revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs through continuous business growth and have taken the lead in community service. Since the first award ceremony in 2020, five recipients have been honored.
Park Daehyun, who received the grand prize, started as vice president in 2014 and is currently serving as the CEO of Hamra A1 in Moseo-myeon, Sangju City. He was selected as an excellent job-creating company by Gyeongbuk Province in 2020 and as a certified small giant company by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2022.
Despite the economic downturn caused by COVID-19, CEO Park has maintained sales of over 10 billion KRW based on top-quality products and recently signed export contracts with countries such as China and Indonesia for international growth. The company has established a corporate research institute and holds numerous certifications and patents, including Inno-Biz technology innovation certification, venture company certification, and ISO1400. It also puts great effort into employee welfare, such as supporting children's tuition fees and operating dormitories and cafeterias. Compared to the previous year, the number of workers increased by 31%, and over 90% of the employees are Sangju residents, contributing to local job creation.
Lim Juwon, who received the excellence award, founded Euncheok Brewery in 1997 and was selected as a Gyeongsangbuk-do local root enterprise and received the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award in 2022. CEO Lim has preserved the tradition of traditional liquor using local agricultural products for the symbiotic development of the family business and regional agriculture. He has also promoted the popularization and premiumization of local Makgeolli, contributing to raising awareness of Sangju Makgeolli's excellence and expanding the market.
He consumes more than 150 tons of rice from the Sangju area annually to revitalize the local economy and manufactures dried persimmon Makgeolli using Sangju’s specialty dried persimmons, contributing to farmers' income. He also makes efforts for employee welfare, including supporting children's tuition fees, employee loan assistance, operating cafeterias, and providing education and training support.
Mayor Kang Youngseok said, "All the awarded entrepreneurs have elevated Sangju's status, and I hope they continue to thrive and develop into world-class companies in Korea and globally."
Sangju City plans to present the Sangju City Entrepreneur Awards at the "Citizen's Day Ceremony" to be held on October 12.
