First Lady Kim Geon-hee Encourages Korean Designers at New York Fashion Expo

First Lady Kim Keon-hee, wife of President Yoon Suk-yeol, visited the international fashion fair 'Coterie New York' held in New York, USA, where she met with Korean designers.

On the 21st (local time), Mrs. Kim wore a top and bottom outfit and a bag from 'RE RHEE,' one of the Korean brands participating in the fair, and visited each Korean brand booth to encourage the designers. Coterie New York is a B2B (business-to-business) fair that serves as a foothold for fashion designers and distribution buyers to enter the North American market.

Mrs. Kim checked the social activities of several brands, including the production and sale of T-shirts for endangered animals, the use of eco-friendly materials, and the practice of sustainable fashion through the production of recycled products.

She said, "Young people around the world have a great affinity for Korea's diverse and free culture," adding, "As much, the popularity of K-fashion, which embodies Korea's lifestyle, is also high."

She continued, "I am proud of our designers who promote K-fashion that contains Korea's unique charm," and said, "I hope that talented domestic designers will actively advance onto the global stage."

Meanwhile, President Yoon and Mrs. Kim are currently in the United States for a 6-day, 4-night trip to attend the United Nations General Assembly. Mrs. Kim is participating in a reception hosted by the U.S. First Lady and interacting with diplomatic officials, contributing to the diplomatic efforts to attract the 2030 Busan World Expo.
