On the 20th, Pohang City held a kickoff report meeting to promote the '2023 Pohang City Big Data Analysis Project'.
Through this big data analysis project, the city surveyed opinions from various departments to identify key policies and current issues, ultimately selecting three final tasks: big data analysis for park revitalization, illegal parking status analysis, and population movement statistics analysis.
First, the big data analysis for park revitalization, including Cheolgilsup and Hwanho Park, collects private and public data to analyze the floating population status of each park and sales figures of surrounding commercial areas, aiming to find ways to revitalize parks and nearby businesses.
The analysis of illegal parking status and parking lot location utilizes big data analysis results based on self-collected data to understand illegal parking enforcement, complaints, and parking demand status, which will be used to select locations for public parking lots and permissible parking zones.
The population movement statistics analysis examines residential population and the volume of in-migration and out-migration to support policy directions related to population policies.
The city plans to build a visualization service for these tasks so that the departments can directly analyze the data and produce results, ensuring that the big data analysis does not end as a one-time effort.
Kim Jeong-pyo, Director of the Digital Convergence Industry Division, stated, “As the scale of the Fourth Industrial Revolution industry grows, various sectors including businesses and public institutions are utilizing data. To apply big data analysis results to policy formulation for key policies and issues, active interest and cooperation from the relevant departments are necessary. We ask for continuous attention until the project is completed.”
