Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Gi-jung) announced on the 21st that it will implement a 'Comprehensive Plan for Citizen Life Stability' to ensure that citizens can have a safe and comfortable Chuseok holiday.
The plan, which began on the 13th of this month, will be carried out until October 3rd, covering three areas: citizen life safety, emergency medical care, and price stabilization, with 10 items and 45 tasks.
The citizen life stability measures focus on six items and 33 tasks, including ▲various disaster and safety management ▲traffic flow and transportation measures for returning visitors ▲support for marginalized neighbors ▲stable supply of tap water and fuel ▲creation of a clean and pleasant environment ▲strict establishment of public service discipline.
To ensure a safe holiday period for citizens, the city will actively respond to safety accidents by maintaining a 24-hour disaster management system in preparation for disasters such as typhoons, operating a wildfire prevention situation room, conducting safety inspections of multi-use facilities, and running a rapid response team for food poisoning.
From the 28th to October 1st, the number of operations on 25 bus routes passing through Gwangju General Bus Terminal will be increased for returning visitors.
To support visitors to ancestral graves, bus routes 15 and 86 will be extended to pass through Yeongnak Park, and route 518, which passes through Yeongnak Park, will have additional buses operated as part of a special city bus transportation plan.
To ensure all citizens can have a warm Chuseok holiday, the city will focus on identifying and supporting non-beneficiary crisis households in welfare blind spots and provide seamless care services to vulnerable elderly, disabled, and low-income children. Gwangju city officials plan to share warmth by delivering consolation goods to marginalized groups.
The emergency medical care measures include two items and six detailed tasks, such as maintaining a flawless medical response system.
To prevent gaps in medical care during the holiday period, 25 emergency medical institutions and on-duty medical institutions and pharmacies will operate to provide uninterrupted medical services. The list of designated on-duty medical institutions can be checked on the Emergency Medical Portal.
The price stabilization measures consist of two items and six detailed tasks, including price stabilization, revitalization of traditional markets, and resolution of workers' unpaid wages.
During this period, the city will operate a price countermeasure situation room for the holiday, inspect the price labeling system for items with high price increase concerns, prepare measures to stabilize people's livelihoods and prices during Chuseok, promote the purchase of Onnuri gift certificates, run campaigns to encourage the use of traditional markets, and operate local food direct stores and agricultural product direct trading markets to revitalize the local economy.
Gwangju City will operate a comprehensive situation room from the 28th to October 3rd during the Chuseok holiday period and will make every effort to prepare for various incidents and accidents, including price stabilization and disaster response.
Information on emergency medical institutions operating during the holiday, LP gas suppliers, and civil document issuance guidance can be obtained from the comprehensive situation room, duty office, and the 120 call center.
Choi Seon-young, Director of the Autonomous Administration Division, said, “We will do our utmost to implement measures in each field so that citizens can have a safe and comfortable holiday period.”
