On the 21st, Gwangju Seobu Fire Station announced that it conducted a comprehensive emergency rescue and first aid response drill to establish a rapid response system through mutual cooperation with related organizations in the event of a large-scale complex disaster, aiming to minimize damage to the lives and property of the public through efficient fire, rescue, and emergency medical response.
The drill, held at JS Wedding Hall in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, focused on operating the emergency rescue control team smoothly in preparation for sudden disasters, similar to the large-scale disaster response during the bathhouse explosion fire in Busan on the 1st of this month. It emphasized cultivating the ability to activate the emergency rescue control team, procedures for implementing response plans, individual task familiarization, operation of temporary medical stations and on-site emergency medical stations by the first-arriving ambulance teams in response to multiple casualties, triage of victims by severity, and distributed hospital transport, all centered on complex disaster response.
In particular, this large-scale drill was conducted with a scenario involving a large fire caused by gas leakage and multiple casualties due to crushing accidents, mobilizing approximately 250 personnel and 36 vehicles.
A fire official stated, "As recent disaster accidents are becoming increasingly large-scale, we will do our best to protect the lives and property of Seo-gu citizens by strengthening cooperation systems with related organizations and conducting practical joint ambulance response drills to thoroughly prepare for large-scale disasters in similar situations."
