October 6-9 ... Uiryeong-eup Seodong Life Park
Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, will hold the '2023 Toyoe Uiryeong Agricultural Special Products Festival' for four days from October 6 to 9 at Seodong Life Park in Uiryeong-eup.
The Toyoe Agricultural Special Products Festival has been held annually since 2019 to promote the excellence of agricultural special products produced in the region and to enhance the traditional foods unique to Uiryeong and increase farmers' income.
In particular, last year it was held on a large scale as a concurrent festival during the Uiryeong Rich Rich Festival.
Uiryeong-gun is located in the center of Gyeongnam, offering good accessibility and fertile soil conditions that produce high-quality special products.
At last year’s festival, popular agricultural products often sold out early every day, prompting tourists to hurry their purchases. The county is currently taking pre-orders for 23 types of agricultural special product packages, and during the festival, visitors purchasing local agricultural special products at booths will be offered free delivery service.
The '2023 Toyoe Uiryeong Agricultural Special Products Festival' will feature upgraded food, sights, and entertainment.
There will be abundant food options such as Toyoe Hanwoo (Korean beef) and Handon (Korean pork) tastings, roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes, and rich rice cake (Bujatdeok) experiences,
as well as attractions like the exhibition of Korea’s largest Bujahobak pumpkin weighing nearly 400kg, and entertainment including a harmonious festival singer congratulatory performance featuring popular singers such as Park Hyun-bin, Seo Ji-o, Jang Ha-on, Bae Il-ho, and Son Bin-a.
To ensure a successful festival, the county is meticulously checking the preparation status centered on the organizing committee composed of local farmers and producer groups, addressing issues such as overcharging and hygiene problems that have caused controversy at other festivals recently.
Shin Hae-geun, the festival chairman, said, “At this festival, we will promote excellent Uiryeong agricultural products grown in a pristine natural environment to tourists and achieve a win-win effect that also supports the income of local residents.”
