[Mania] Tried LG Electronics' New Furniture-Style Massage Chair 'Healing Me Arte'

LG Electronics Healing Me Objet Collection Arte Massage Chair
Massage Chairs Can Also Be Beautiful

A single-person recliner sofa with a sleek and clean design, or a luxurious lounge chair?at first glance, it looked like that, but it turned out to be a massage chair with a massage function. The first impression of LG Electronics' new massage chair 'Healing Me Objet Collection Arte,' which the reporter used for a week, was that it did not feel like a massage chair.

It is a definite 'pass' as an interior piece. Typical massage chairs become bulky objects that take up space in a corner of the living room when not in use for massage. Sometimes, they are even used as makeshift clothes racks or for hanging laundry. However, the Healing Me Objet Collection Arte creates a luxurious atmosphere with its soft curved exterior and two colors, Cozy Beige and Clay Brown, and its lounge chair design fits well in any space. Once you see it, you understand why it is called a 'furniture-type massage chair.'

LG Electronics has been making massage chairs for 15 years. However, LG's recognition in this market is relatively low. The massage chair market is dominated by mid-sized and small companies such as Bodyfriend, which has strengthened its competitiveness through rental service strategies, as well as Ceragem, Cozyma, and Hutech. Therefore, expectations for LG's massage chair were low. But after actually using it, there was no significant difference in functionality compared to other massage chair brands.

The Healing Me Objet Collection Arte features massage balls that move in six directions?up, down, left, right, forward, and backward?providing three-dimensional massage similar to hand massage, including kneading, acupressure, and tapping. The automatic massage courses include ▲Standard Mode for full-body basic massage ▲Driver Mode focusing on the neck and shoulders ▲Office Worker Mode focusing on the back and hips ▲Golf Mode focusing on the back and waist ▲Therapy Mode concentrating on the waist and hips, and two full-body special massage functions: ▲Pilates Mode and ▲Vitality Mode, totaling seven modes. Massage intensity (3 levels) can be adjusted during automatic courses, but it fit the body perfectly without needing adjustment. By pressing the My Mind Course button, users can finely adjust the massage range, movements, position, speed, and intensity. Each massage course lasts for 20 minutes.

The massage chair comes with detachable back cushions and pillows. The reporter, who usually prefers strong massages, used the chair with the back cushions and pillows flipped back and only used them together when sitting without activating the massage function to rest. When placing legs on the footrest and sitting in the massage chair, leaning back allows the body to recline sufficiently. Despite being a 'chair,' it was possible to receive a massage in a comfortable, almost lying-down position.

The noise level is about 35 decibels (dB), quiet enough for peaceful rest even at night. Functions like kneading, rolling, and acupressure produce almost no sound, with only slight noise and vibration felt during tapping. When sitting in the massage chair, built-in speakers near the ears allow music listening via Bluetooth during the massage.

The absence of arm and leg massage functions may be a matter of preference for users. Other massage chairs that fix the body by enclosing the arms and legs for full-body massage can cause discomfort and frustration due to restricted movement. However, this product allows free movement of hands and feet, enabling more comfortable relaxation. For those who prefer massages focused on the neck, shoulders, back, waist, and hips, the Healing Me Objet Collection Arte, which does not require fixing the arms and legs, may be a better choice.

The inconvenience of sitting on a wired remote control has been neatly resolved with a detachable wireless remote control for the chair. The remote is small, lightweight, and wire-free, making it visually clean. The remote attaches magnetically to the side or armrest of the chair. However, the attachment area is not very large, so if not placed carefully, the remote may fall to the floor, so caution is needed. Unlike other massage chair remotes, this one lacks a built-in display, making it difficult to check the remaining massage time during use. There is no function to increase or decrease the massage time before starting, so if you want to continue after the 20-minute course ends, you need to operate the remote again.
