The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority invited about 10 small and medium-sized enterprises from Brandenburg, Germany on the 20th to introduce the status of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone and conducted a tour of the Pohang Convergence Technology Industrial Complex, secondary battery material companies, and the EcoPro Pohang Campus.
Brandenburg, Germany, is a leader in the electric mobility industry in Germany, hosting Tesla's gigafactory, BASF's secondary battery cathode material factory, and Mercedes Benz's plant. Global pharmaceutical companies such as Takeda, Berlin Chemie, Bayer, and Beiersdorf are also located there, engaging in pharmaceutical and bio-related research and manufacturing.
Officials from German small and medium-sized enterprises visiting Korea at the invitation of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority are touring the Pohang Knowledge Industry Center.
The small and medium-sized enterprises from Brandenburg that visited this time include about 10 companies such as Laser Mikrotech (laser robot production - applied to batteries, semiconductors, automobiles, electronics, hydrogen, etc.), known for their excellent manufacturing capabilities and innovative technologies.
During the event, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority introduced the EcoPro Pohang Campus, a secondary battery material company near the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, to the German SMEs, and explained the strengths and tenant status of each district in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone, as well as the status of the Pohang Convergence Technology Industrial Complex as a center for pharmaceutical and bio R&D in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region and the Plant Vaccine Company Support Center.
Kim Byung-sam, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, stated, “The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone has a perfect cluster for the secondary battery business with companies such as EcoPro, L&F, POSCO Future M, and LG BCM (chemical) nearby, and inquiries from global-oriented domestic and foreign pharmaceutical and bio companies are continuously coming to the Pohang Convergence Technology Industrial Complex.” He added, “We will do our best to provide administrative and financial support to these tenant companies.”
