An apartment complex with up to 25 floors and 1,067 units will be built in the aging residential area of Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, where redevelopment had been stalled due to the hilly terrain.
On the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held the 5th Urban Planning Committee Rapid Integrated Planning Redevelopment Project and Authorization Subcommittee meeting, and on the 21st announced that it had approved the revision of the maintenance plan decision and the designation of the maintenance area for the "Yeonhui-dong 721-6 Public Housing Redevelopment Project."
The target area was designated as a maintenance planned zone in 2011 but was deregulated due to prolonged project stagnation, leaving it an aging and deteriorated residential area. Since being selected as a public redevelopment candidate site in March 2021, the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) participated and requested the establishment of a redevelopment plan and designation of the maintenance area that overcomes the characteristics of the hilly terrain. With this review, the area designation was approved.
To arrange green corridors connected to Ansan Neighborhood Park to the south and Hongjecheon Stream to the north, a park will be created on the west side of the maintenance area. To ensure openness and secure sightlines within the complex, an open space at least 10 meters wide will be created in the north-south direction. Utilizing the elevation differences of the hilly terrain, neighborhood living facilities will be placed along Hongyeon-gil and Gajwa-ro.
Han Byung-yong, Director of the Seoul Housing Policy Office, said, "With the supply of quality housing in the aging and poor hilly residential area, the residential environment will improve and contribute to the housing stability of Seoul citizens."
