Excluding Zones 1 and 3, the Entire Jungnang Redevelopment Promotion District Lifted
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Jungnang District Mayor, "Will Quickly Promote Small-Scale Developments Desired by Residents, Including Moa Town"
On the 21st, Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) announced a plan change to lift the designation of part of the Junghwa Redevelopment Promotion District in the Jung-hwa and Muk-dong areas.
As a result of this decision, the entire area except for Junghwa 1 and 3 Redevelopment Promotion Districts was removed from the redevelopment promotion district.
The areas lifted from the redevelopment promotion district through this change will now allow small-scale developments in directions desired by residents, rather than large-scale developments under the redevelopment promotion plan.
The redevelopment promotion district is a method of planning and developing projects on a wide scale, such as improving residential environments and infrastructure maintenance, which can take a long time due to the large target area.
On the other hand, small-scale development has the advantage of drastically reducing the permit period and enabling private sector redevelopment plan establishment, which can reduce costs.
Accordingly, the district aims to lift part of the Junghwa Redevelopment Promotion District and shift the focus to small-scale redevelopment projects such as Moa Town to quickly improve the residential environment.
Additionally, among the lifted areas, the 329-38 area of Junghwa 2-dong was newly selected as a target site for the second phase of Moa Town by Seoul City last month, accelerating Jungnang-gu’s housing development projects even further.
The district has continuously consulted with Seoul City until the plan change was finalized and actively collected residents’ opinions through resident briefings and public hearings.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “Starting with this district change, we will do our best to develop old houses and improve the residential environment in directions desired by nearby residents,” adding, “We will also carefully ensure continuous communication with residents and provide accurate information.”
