"Hangzhou Athlete Village Restaurant, 'Feels Like Vomiting' Posted Then Deleted... What Happened to Chinese Ke Jie?"

After Controversy, "Nutrient-Rich" Praise Video Reuploaded
Allegations and Spread of 'Chinese Government Involvement'

With the Hangzhou Asian Games set to open on the 23rd, a video of China's well-known Go player Ke Jie (26) complaining "I feel like vomiting" while eating in the athletes' village is spreading on social media in South Korea as well.

However, this video was suddenly deleted from Ke Jie's social media (SNS), and recently, only videos full of praise saying "I had a really delicious meal" have been posted on his SNS.

According to the Chinese media NTD TV, headquartered in New York, USA, on the 16th (local time), Ke Jie posted a video on his SNS on the 11th showing him preparing for the Asian Games and eating in the athletes' village.

"Hangzhou Athlete Village Restaurant, 'Feels Like Vomiting' Posted Then Deleted... What Happened to Chinese Ke Jie?" Ke Jie, who was eating lamb, said the smell was terrible and "I feel like vomiting. If I had gotten in the car after eating this, I think I would have had morning sickness." Making a grimace, Ke Jie filled his stomach with just white rice and soy sauce marinade.

In the video, he harshly criticized that the fish had too many bones, the pork had a lot of hair left on it, and some of the food was frozen products costing 3 yuan (about 500 won). Especially while eating lamb, Ke Jie said the smell was strong and "I feel like vomiting. If I had gotten in the car after eating this, I think I would have had morning sickness." With a grimace on his face, Ke Jie filled his stomach with just white rice and soy sauce seasoning.

Ke Jie, China's top Go player, is an influencer with 360,000 followers. The video he posted quickly spread on SNS. However, Ke Jie's video was suddenly deleted online.

"Hangzhou Athlete Village Restaurant, 'Feels Like Vomiting' Posted Then Deleted... What Happened to Chinese Ke Jie?" Ke Jie later posted a new video on SNS saying, "Here is the Asian Games meal you want." The atmosphere of the video was completely different from before. Ke Jie brought a bowl full of various types of food, from shrimp to various meats and fresh vegetables, and even showed himself enjoying the meal.

Afterwards, Ke Jie posted a new video on SNS saying, "Here is the Asian Games meal you want." The atmosphere of the video was completely different from before. Ke Jie brought a bowl full of various foods, from shrimp to various meats and fresh vegetables, and even showed himself enjoying the meal.

Three days earlier, he had also posted another video titled 'Asian Games Preparation Diary.' In this video, he continued to praise the meals in the athletes' village. After bringing various foods, eating, and showing an empty plate, he said, "Did you see? I really had a delicious meal," adding, "Actually, what we are eating now is not the official meal provided at the Asian Games athletes' village."

He went on to say, "They say that the Asian Games athletes' village will provide more expensive and diverse types of food. And you will also be able to taste the most authentic Hangzhou cuisine," adding, "The really good days have not come yet." These words from Ke Jie were provided with Chinese subtitles as well as English subtitles.

At the Beijing Olympics athletes' village restaurant held last February, the meals were also rated as "the worst ever." Most athletes said the meals were too greasy and of poor quality. The Korean team ate Korean lunch boxes provided by the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, but athletes from other countries posted photos of the poor meals in the athletes' village on SNS, expressing dissatisfaction.

With even a domestic star like Ke Jie complaining, suspicions have been raised that the Chinese government, conscious of this, deleted Ke Jie's video and made him post a new one.
