From Recipe Search to Ordering in One Go... Naver AI Search 'Q:' Service

Naver will launch the beta service of its generative AI search 'Cue:' starting from the 20th.

While 'Clova X,' Naver's conversational AI service released last month, is a tool aimed at enhancing productivity for businesses and individuals in various fields such as document writing and creation, 'Cue:' integrates generative AI into search. Its key feature is dramatically improving search convenience by instantly understanding the user's intent even with complex queries. Through multi-step reasoning, users can clearly grasp the logical flow of how the generated answers were provided. This differs from existing generative AI chatbots that create answers based on pre-trained data.

From Recipe Search to Ordering in One Go... Naver AI Search 'Q:' Service

'Cue:' addresses the limitations of traditional search. Even when inputting sentences with mixed intentions, it finds suitable information scattered across Naver's services and search results and combines them to generate answers. For a complex question like "Tell me about plants that are good for beginners to grow in a one-room apartment and how to care for them," it establishes a search plan in the order of characteristics and advantages of plants suitable for one-room apartments and care methods, going through a step-by-step search process. Based on the search results collected at each stage, it provides generated answers along with reference information.

Additionally, various features are added to assist users in further exploration. Clicking 'See More' within the answer links to integrated search results, allowing users to continue viewing additional content. The 'Follow-up Questions' provided at the bottom enable users to discover related interests and information connected to the topic. Using the 'Search' function allows for deeper exploration of related content within integrated search.

Moreover, it is linked with various Naver service ecosystems such as Shopping, Pay, and Places. It helps users easily reach their search goals like purchasing products or making reservations, rather than just passing by in the search answers. For example, the process of finding a recipe through search and then purchasing ingredients via separate vertical shopping services is connected in one step. If a user searches "Tell me the recipe for Aeho-bakjeon to make for Chuseok. I also want to buy the necessary ingredients," the answer summarizes the ingredients and cooking method for Aeho-bakjeon. At the bottom, it links to Naver Jangbogi (shopping service), allowing users to purchase products available for immediate order based on the address they entered.

Naver will first offer 'Cue:' in a closed beta form on PC environments. Users can sign up with their Naver ID on a separate service page and use it after approval. After enhancing features during the beta period, it plans to gradually integrate it into the unified search.

Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver, said, "Naver is a globally unique platform with countless content and a vast service ecosystem," adding, "Even in the era of generative AI, we will not lose the initiative and will enhance the value of connection through technology with differentiated usability."
