Department of Broadcasting and Video Studies Produces Songwol Towel Production Line Training Manual and Opens Industry-Academia Course

A Class Selling project, in which university ‘classrooms’ are directly sold to domestic companies to jointly operate courses, is underway.


Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) announced on the 20th that it will jointly operate courses with Songwol Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Byung-dae), a leading local towel manufacturer based in Busan.


Earlier, the Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group signed an MOU with Songwol Co., Ltd. to promote this project and operate Class Selling.

The Class Selling by Dongseo University LINC 3.0 means selling courses, where courses requested by companies are opened and both the supervising professor and the company jointly guide the students. The results derived from the classes are sold to the demand side as a ‘customized program.’


At the event, Dongseo University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation Director Hwang Ki-hyun, Songwol Co., Ltd. Executive Director Kim Woo-ram, Songwol Co., Ltd. Deputy General Manager Lee Jae-min, Dongseo University LINC 3.0 Project Group Corporate Support Director Park Young-jun, Industry-Academic Education Center Director Jeong Hae-joo, IFS PBL Center Director Choi Jong-seok, and professors in charge, Broadcasting and Video Department Professors Lee Ja-hye and Lee Da-wit, attended.


This business agreement ceremony was held to cooperate in opening and operating industry-academic courses for producing educational manuals for the Songwol Towel production line using videos (Capstone Design) between Dongseo University and Songwol Co., Ltd.


Also, Dongseo University and Songwol Co., Ltd. agreed to make this a starting point for contributing to the development of local talent and corporate growth through various industry-academic collaborations.


The Broadcasting and Video Department focuses on improving students’ practical skills by operating industry-academic courses that reflect the demands of media companies such as broadcasters and fields requiring video utilization.


Through the on-campus virtual company ‘IFS3.0 Media Outlet,’ various industry-academic cooperation programs are operated, achieving results in nurturing field-oriented talents.


Hwang Ki-hyun, Director of Dongseo University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, introduced, “The Class Selling program is an open education system jointly taught by industry and academia to solve tasks requested by companies and local communities, first planned nationwide by Dongseo University in 2012 as an industry-academic cooperation curriculum.”


Director Hwang said, “Dongseo University is striving to overcome the difficulties faced by local small and medium-sized enterprises in terms of manpower and technology through industry-academic cooperation, and will devote efforts to the development and competitiveness enhancement of local companies.”


Kim Woo-ram, Executive Director of Songwol Towel, said, “We expect efficient education to maintain production quality through the production of video training manuals necessary for overseas expansion of the production line,” and added, “We plan to carry out extensive cooperation with Dongseo University.”
