Nexon announced on the 19th that it will begin the cross-play open beta for the new root shooter title "First Descendant," currently being developed by its subsidiary Nexon Games.
The open beta will run for one week until the 26th, allowing anyone to participate on PC (Steam), Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It supports full cross-play, enabling progress sharing across all platforms.
New characters include the lively area damage dealer "Balbi" and the tough-as-their-personality tank "Kyle," bringing the total to 13 unique "Descendants." "Balbi" uses a skill that absorbs moisture from the surroundings to put enemies into a "Laundry" state, and her ultimate skill "Washing Bomb" pulls in "Laundry" enemies to deal continuous damage. "Kyle" deploys a shield that blocks attacks from the front and can recover the shield using the "Self-Power" gauge accumulated through skills. His ultimate skill is a powerful charge attack from the air against enemies.
Additionally, players can encounter eight powerful bosses in the "Void Interception" mode, including the ice-elemental "Dead Bride" and the aerial-type "Hangman." The game also offers 11 ultimate weapons with unique special effects and a cosmetic system to customize your own "Descendant."
Based on feedback from previous test users, First Descendant has improved the fun of controls by enhancing motions such as the grappling hook and parkour, as well as gun sounds and hit feedback. The prologue has been completely revamped to facilitate smooth understanding of the game’s setting and world. The latest Unreal Engine 5.2 has been applied to allow players to enjoy top-quality graphics in a comfortable environment, along with support for new image quality technologies.
