NH Nonghyup Life Gyeongnam Headquarters, Committed to Farmers' Health as Well

Visiting Medical Care for Underserved Rural Populations by Yonsei University Medical Center

NH NongHyup Life Insurance Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters announced on the 19th that it conducted rural medical support volunteer activities at the county indoor gymnasium within the jurisdiction of Sancheong-gun NongHyup in Gyeongnam.

The event was attended by Cho Chang-ho, chairman of Sancheong-gun NongHyup, as well as Yoon Hae-jin, CEO of NH NongHyup Life Insurance, and Jang Byung-chul, head of the regional headquarters, who encouraged the medical staff on site.

The medical support project was carried out together with Severance medical staff. The medical volunteer team provided various medical examinations and prescriptions, including ▲cardiology ▲gastroenterology ▲dentistry ▲rehabilitation medicine, targeting about 250 farmers and elderly people.

The Severance medical team consisted of a total of 35 members, including 8 specialists, 5 pharmacists, nurses, dental hygienists, and other medical support personnel. Various examination equipment such as electrocardiograms, ultrasounds, dental examinations, and blood pressure measurement devices, as well as medication dispensing equipment, were deployed. If abnormalities such as serious diseases were detected during the examination, follow-up measures including surgery could be arranged in connection with Severance Hospital later.

NongHyup Life Insurance signed an agreement with Yonsei University Medical Center last year to provide medical treatment and screening activities for medically vulnerable groups in rural areas. In July, the third rural medical support project of 2023 was conducted for members of Toseong NongHyup in Goseong-gun, Gangwon Province, benefiting a total of 230 people.

The rural medical support project is a representative social contribution activity of NongHyup that has been steadily carried out since the NongHyup Mutual Aid era to improve the health of farmers. It first began in 1966 as the "NongHyup Mutual Aid Nationwide Mobile Clinic" and continued until 2019. From 2006 to 2019, a total of 144 sessions were held, providing medical benefits to approximately 60,000 people.

NongHyup Life Insurance temporarily suspended nationwide mobile clinic activities in 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19 but resumed them last year through an agreement with Yonsei Medical Center. Starting from the medical support activities resumed in May, NongHyup Life Insurance plans to conduct the project about eight times a year, providing medical benefits to approximately 2,400 people annually.

Head Jang said, “I feel honored to directly visit rural areas with low medical accessibility and provide medical services to farmers and medically vulnerable groups.” He added, “NH NongHyup Life Insurance will continue to steadily carry out rural medical support projects for the health and welfare of farmers and members.”
