On the 19th, Lotte Entertainment and Ace Maker Movie Works announced that director Kim Han-min's final installment of the Admiral Yi Sun-sin trilogy, "Noryang: Sea of Death," will be released this December.
Following the record-breaking success of "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" (2014), which attracted 17.61 million viewers, and last year's "Hansan: Rising Dragon" (2022), which drew 7.26 million audiences, the final film of the Admiral Yi Sun-sin trilogy, "Noryang: Sea of Death," has already secured a spot in the winter release lineup.
"Noryang: Sea of Death" depicts the Battle of Noryang (November 19, 1598, lunar calendar), the most significant victory during the seven years of the Imjin War and the final battle signaling the end of the war. The film portrays Admiral Yi Sun-sin's last battle to completely annihilate the Japanese forces retreating from Joseon after seven years since the outbreak of the Imjin War.
Following actors Choi Min-sik and Park Hae-il, Kim Yoon-seok plays Admiral Yi Sun-sin in "Noryang: Sea of Death." Kim Yoon-seok prepares for the final battle in the narrow Noryang Strait. He is determined to portray a different aspect of Yi Sun-sin?the wise commander (賢將), distinct from the brave commander (庸將) in "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" and the strategic commander (智將) in "Hansan: Rising Dragon." Additionally, actors Baek Yoon-sik, Jung Jae-young, Heo Jun-ho, Ahn Bo-hyun, Kim Sung-kyu, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Lee Moo-saeng also appear in the film.
