Pohang City Po-eun Ocheon Library has started a pilot operation from the 20th after remodeling and new construction, and will hold various reading culture programs in celebration of September, the month of reading.
Various children's experiential events and lectures will be held, including the ‘Haeoreummaru Chaektteul Music Concert’ where books are read with music, the children's puppet show ‘Hobakai’, and a lecture by author Lee Myung-shin. Additionally, through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's public project ‘2023 Public Library Immersive Experience Center Creation Project’, visitors can enjoy the 3D experiential storytelling program ‘Let's Play at the Immersive Playground!’, along with a children's climbing corner, reading quizzes, and distribution of past periodicals.
Program applications are currently being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis through the city library's website. For more details, inquiries can be made via the website notices or by phone.
Kim Se-won, director of Pohang City Library, said, “We are very pleased to provide beneficial reading culture services to citizens as we begin pilot operations on the 20th,” and added, “We will actively operate the library as a knowledge and culture complex center for Nam-gu district, serving as a hub and a children-specialized library.”
The official opening day of Po-eun Ocheon Library is scheduled for the 14th of next month, and a commemorative ceremony along with the Korea Fairy Tale Festival will be held on that day.
