Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council Donates 520 Bags of 10Kg Rice for Chuseok

Delivery of 520 Bags of Sangju Sambaek Rice Worth 16.12 Million KRW to Underprivileged Groups in Dongdaemun for a Warm Chuseok Holiday

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilhyung Lee) announced on the morning of the 18th at the Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council (Chairman Sangjong Park) that it delivered 520 bags of Sangju Sambaek rice (10kg each), worth approximately 16.12 million KRW, to neighbors in need in celebration of the traditional Korean holiday, Chuseok.

The Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council is a non-profit social welfare corporation that promotes various welfare projects to enhance the welfare of local residents. Since its establishment in 2005, it has contributed to spreading a culture of sharing for low-income families during the Lunar New Year and Chuseok holidays every year. Last year, it also shared warm compassion by delivering 1,000 bags of Sangju Sambaek rice to underprivileged groups.

The delivery ceremony was attended by Ilhyung Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Sangjong Park, Chairman of the Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council, and six other council officials. The 520 bags of 10kg rice received will be distributed to underprivileged residents within the community.

Sangjong Park, Chairman of the Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council, expressed, “We feel rewarded by caring for neighbors in need and practicing sharing through donation activities every holiday. This year, we hope Chuseok will be a lively celebration with hearts united between givers and receivers. We will also take the lead in spreading a culture of sharing so that other organizations can join in caring for the underprivileged.”

Ilhyung Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “We are grateful to the Dongdaemun-gu Social Welfare Council for practicing donation activities for underprivileged neighbors every holiday. We hope this will serve as a foundation for further activation of a warm donation culture for those in need, and the rice delivered will be distributed to places where it is truly needed.”
