Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, requested Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who has been on a hunger strike for 17 days, to stop his strike and proposed a meeting between the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties.
On the 16th, Kim said on his Facebook, "I once again politely request you to stop the hunger strike," adding, "I hope you will stop the strike now to avoid serious health deterioration and difficulties in recovery."
Kim stated, "Even if we belong to different political factions and have disagreements, politics is a process of consultation and coordination," and added, "As before, I am ready to meet with Leader Lee anytime and anywhere for an open and sincere conversation." He also proposed, "Once Leader Lee recovers his health, let us immediately hold a meeting between the leaders of the ruling and opposition parties and engage in intense discussions on people’s livelihoods."
Furthermore, Kim said, "Recently, regrettable incidents have occurred in the National Assembly," and added, "I believe it is not a responsible attitude as leaders to show such behavior to the people ahead of the holidays."
