Haruki Murakami's new work, "The City and Its Uncertain Walls," released after six years, topped the Kyobo Bookstore bestseller list for the second week of September with overwhelming popularity. According to Kyobo Bookstore, buyers in their 40s accounted for the highest percentage at 36.7%, followed by those in their 30s at 30.3%. The gender ratio of buyers showed a slightly higher number of women, but the difference from men was not significant.

Yu Hua, who visited Korea to participate in the Seoul International Writers' Festival, entered the novel category with "Life" at 12th place and "Chronicle of a Blood Merchant" at 15th place. The novel "Life" is the original work of the film of the same name directed by Zhang Yimou. To commemorate his 40th anniversary since debuting this year, a special edition and revised edition were published.
