An incident occurred in which a woman in her 50s, presumed to be a supporter known as a 'Gaeddal,' wielded a weapon and injured police officers at the hunger strike site of Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.

According to police and National Assembly officials on the 14th, Kim (56) engaged in a physical altercation with two police officers from the National Assembly security team who were requesting her to leave around 19:39 that day, swinging a pair of scissors and injuring two officers?one on the right arm and the other on the back of the left hand. Prior to this, the woman had been asked by police to leave due to loud and disruptive behavior in the space in front of the National Assembly main building where Lee Jae-myung’s hunger strike site is located.


At the time of the incident, Lee Jae-myung was not present at the scene. He is currently continuing his hunger strike in the party leader’s office inside the National Assembly main building. The two injured police officers were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Fortunately, their injuries are reported to be not serious. The police have arrested Kim and plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident.

Meanwhile, Lee has been continuing his hunger strike for the 15th day, stating he will "stop the tyranny of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration." On the same day, Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, politely requested Lee to stop the hunger strike, saying, "Regardless of the reason, I respectfully ask Leader Lee to cease the hunger strike that is harming his health," and added, "It is not appropriate for the leader of the largest opposition party with a huge number of seats to continue a hunger strike during the critical regular session of the National Assembly, when government administration and next year’s national budget need to be reviewed." This was the first official request from the ruling party to end the hunger strike.
