Live Streaming and AI Check-in Call Technology B2B Sales
Full-Scale Drive of B2B Business with Enterprise AI Services
Naver has started selling services previously offered to individual users, such as live broadcasting and AI-based greeting calls, to businesses. This diversifies its business model from business-to-consumer (B2C) to business-to-business (B2B). With the launch of enterprise AI services scheduled for October, Naver plans to strengthen its B2B business.
Naver will release its live streaming app, 'Prism Live Studio,' as a B2B product in December. Currently under development, it is expected to be available through Naver Cloud within the year. Launched in 2019, Prism Live Studio is a multi-platform offering real-time streaming and video editing features. It allows general users to shoot and broadcast live streams like professionals and is used in over 200 countries. It has supported Naver's own video services such as Naver Shopping Live, a real-time broadcast sales service, and Naver NOW.
Naver is offering this as a B2B product due to growing market demand for live streaming technology. While it was initially unable to actively respond to technology partnerships or app integration proposals, the technology has now advanced enough to be offered as a paid service. The company plans to charge integration fees and monthly usage fees for incorporating the Prism solution into corporate platforms.
Starting this month, Naver has also begun offering its AI greeting call service, 'Clova Care Call,' as a paid service through Naver Cloud. Clova Care Call applies Naver’s massive AI model, HyperCLOVA, to provide greeting calls. The AI periodically calls individuals in need of care to check on their well-being and monitor for any abnormal signs. Previously, the service was provided through collaborations with individual local governments or welfare organizations, but from this month, it is being sold as a solution. This is to provide the service to various businesses based on Naver Cloud.
Additionally, Naver Shopping’s product recommendation technology, 'AiTEMS,' is also being sold as a paid product. AI summarization services provided through the translation service Papago and the voice recording service Clova Note are offered via application programming interfaces (APIs).
The focus on B2B business aims to diversify revenue streams. Until now, Naver’s business model has been closer to B2C, growing its platform through user services and adding advertising and commerce. However, with the endemic phase reducing non-face-to-face activities, growth in the B2C sector has slowed. Meanwhile, the B2B market is expanding as more companies pursue digital transformation. Naver has concluded that to sustain growth, it must transform into a B2B company. For this reason, earlier this year, Naver consolidated its scattered B2B organizations into its cloud subsidiary, Naver Cloud.
The launch of the enterprise AI service 'Neuro Cloud for HyperCLOVA X' in October is expected to accelerate the expansion of the B2B business. It is known that major domestic companies such as Samsung Electronics’ Semiconductor (DS) division and KB Financial Group are already considering adopting Naver AI services. Hyojin Lee, a researcher at Meritz Securities, predicted, "Since various product pipelines incorporating AI technology into commerce and advertising have been unveiled, we expect to see significant revenue starting in the second half of this year."
