On the 10th, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that 60 volunteers participated in the 2023 Uljin Geumgangsong National Marathon held around Geunnam-myeon, with the Uljin-gun Comprehensive Volunteer Center (Director Jang Tae-yoon) at the core.
During the event, volunteers were strategically assigned to various roles such as providing water support at different sections, guiding the course at intersections, managing item storage, and supplying snacks to ensure smooth operation of the marathon.
The volunteers received prior briefings and training before being deployed on-site to contribute to the successful event. They cheered on runners passing the turnaround point and promptly assisted fallen runners, significantly enhancing Uljin-gun’s image among athletes gathered from across the country.
Director Jang Tae-yoon stated, “I am grateful to the volunteers who took the lead in making the event successful through their dedication for the athletes participating nationwide, and I support all volunteers who shine in every role.”
County Governor Son Byung-bok expressed his gratitude, saying, “Volunteers always accompany events held in Uljin-gun, quietly taking on difficult tasks. I thank all volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to participate in the service.”
