Complete Vehicle Restriction from the 23rd to 5 AM on the 25th
The representative festival of Incheon, the 'Bupyeong Pungmul Grand Festival,' will take place from the 22nd to the 24th along various spots on Bupyeong-daero. Celebrating its 27th edition this year, the festival focuses on connecting tradition and creation, regions and generations, cities and people under the theme 'It is in Bupyeong. Connecting Pungmul.'
On the first day of the festival, a ritual ceremony marking the start of the event will be held at Sintree Park, and from the second day, the main street festival will unfold on Bupyeong-daero. Centered around Bupyeong-daero, four stages and four streets will be set up, hosting pungmul, music, and dance performances along with various art experience events.
First, the opening performance on the first day will be hosted by broadcaster Jo Young-gu, featuring next-generation gugak artists and trot singer Shin Seung-tae, gugak artist Oh Jung-hae, and young pungmul performers from Bupyeong including Seo Han-woo’s Beokku dance, who won the Presidential Award, taking the main stage.
In the second part of the opening ceremony, the 'Ballim Dance Troupe' led by Kim Myo-seon, a national intangible cultural asset Seungmu transmission instructor, and the Far East University arts group 'Mugung' will perform. The closing performance will feature gugak master singer Park Jun-young, who is actively working in Incheon and Bupyeong, the professional percussion team Hanul Sori, a collaboration with Taekwondo and B-boy, Forteuner Kim Sung-hyun from Bupyeong who was the runner-up on JTBC Phantom Singer 4, pungmul group The Neum, and rock band Third Stone, all performing under the theme 'Connecting.'

At each stage set up throughout Bupyeong-daero street, various traditional pungmul performances, the Master-Pupil Pungmul Masters Exhibition, the 2023 Bupyeong Living Culture Festival, Incheon Arirang flash mob, citizen art club performances, Bupyeong Manmanse, Bupyeong residents’ grand parade, youth dance festival, and intergenerational concert will continue to fuel the festival’s excitement.
In particular, in the A, B, C, and D zones of the street, an art playground where visitors can experience traditional and living arts will be operated. Additionally, five couples among Bupyeong residents will be selected to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary, symbolizing family love. There will also be various street artists’ performances such as clowns, magic shows, balloon art, and Dongdong Gurumo that families and children can enjoy.
Cha Jun-taek, head of Bupyeong District Office, said, "Through the festival, I hope all participants freely walk, meet, and enjoy themselves on Bupyeong-daero street," adding, "We will develop pungmul, which is expanding beyond Korea to the world, as a representative asset of Bupyeong."
Meanwhile, to ensure smooth festival progress, Bupyeong District plans to completely restrict vehicle traffic on certain sections of Bupyeong-daero from 12:30 AM on the 23rd until 5 AM on the 25th. The restricted area includes the eight-lane road and surrounding alleys along Bupyeong-daero from Bupyeong Station to Bupyeong Market Station on Incheon Subway Line 1.
