Naver Cloud announced on the 12th that Ilang Goudfain, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and key officials visited Naver’s second headquarters, 1784, on the 11th.
This visit by the IDB President was arranged with the purpose of exploring digital transformation (DX) strategies for Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries promoted by the IDB. While there is high demand for digital transformation, supply is relatively insufficient in the Latin American region, and the IDB is focusing on strengthening digital competitiveness there. The visit was held with the attendance of key figures from Naver and Naver Labs, including Kim Yuwon, CEO of Naver Cloud.
The IDB President and his delegation experienced various technologies implemented at 1784, such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cloud, and digital twin, and then discussed AI and cloud collaboration plans to continuously contribute to digital transformation in the Latin American region. In particular, they introduced Naver Cloud’s sovereign cloud and large-scale AI ‘HyperCLOVA X,’ which provide customized AI and cloud services while respecting each country’s data sovereignty and regulations, and exchanged opinions on utilization methods.
Amid the advances of big tech companies from the U.S. and China, Naver Cloud is targeting countries concerned about AI sovereignty and non-English-speaking countries with its ‘Sovereign AI’ system, which considers political and cultural contexts. Based on accumulated experience and technological capabilities, Naver Cloud plans to accelerate efforts to continuously introduce Team Naver’s technologies to the global market and foster cooperation.
Ilang Goudfain, President of the IDB, stated, “Digital transformation is rapidly progressing worldwide, and related demand is expanding,” adding, “I expect Naver Cloud’s technological capabilities to greatly assist Latin American countries in achieving digital transformation and securing AI sovereignty.”
Meanwhile, Naver’s second headquarters, 1784, is the world’s first robot-friendly building, a tech convergence space that continuously evolves through the fusion of advanced technology and space. The innovative technology experiments Naver is conducting at 1784 have attracted global attention. As of July, more than 4,000 people from 54 countries worldwide, including the U.S. Department of State and Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretaries, ministers and deputy ministers from five Pacific island countries, and the WTO Secretary-General, have visited.
