Suwon 'Tongdak Street Festival' Opens on the 15th... Rich Citizen Participation Programs Offered Suwon Fried Chicken Street Festival Guide Poster

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will hold the 'Tongdak Street Festival' from the 15th to the 17th of this month in the Nam-su-dong area of Paldal-gu, Suwon Tongdak Street.


The opening ceremony of this festival, organized by the Haenggung Cultural Street Merchants Association, will be held at 6 p.m. on the 15th.


The event will feature a pre-ceremony performance by the Suwon City Performance Group, an opening performance making fried chicken in a large vessel, and congratulatory performances by singers Song Ga-in, Yoo Jin-pyo, Kkotbi, and the OK Girl Group.


During the festival, various performances will take place, including shows by local Suwon artists, the Tongdak Street Haenggung Song Festival, Suwon Youth Volunteer Band performances, Gayo TV stage events, busking (street performances), and magic shows.


Additionally, various citizen participation programs will be held, such as ▲leather keyring making, psychological tarot counseling, calligraphy, woodworking ▲chimeulie (chicken sommelier) contest, Tongdak King selection contest ▲and recreational activities involving citizen participation.


Suwon City will restrict vehicle traffic in the festival area from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the festival period.


The vehicle restriction zones include ▲Suwoncheon-ro 309-1 (in front of Maehyang Tongdak) to Jeongjo-ro 800beon-gil 21 (in front of Jinmi Tongdak) ▲Jeongjo-ro 800beon-gil 21 (in front of Jinmi Tongdak) to Jeongjo-ro 800beon-gil 10 (in front of Manrijangseong) ▲Changryong-daero 8beon-gil 34 (in front of Seoseo Galbi) to Paldalmun-ro 3beon-gil 36 (in front of Rakgyu).


A Suwon city official said, "Last year, the Suwon Tongdak Street Festival was held for the first time in seven years, attracting over 30,000 visitors over three days and concluding successfully," and added, "We ask visitors to use public transportation to visit the festival venue whenever possible."
