The Korean Federation of Trade Unions delegation will hold a press conference in the City Hall video conference room to announce a joint statement from the chairpersons of the 17 regional headquarters nationwide supporting Busan’s bid for the World Expo, and will perform a support event with the phrase “2030 World Expo in Busan.”
The joint statement from the Korean Federation of Trade Unions is expected to include ▲promotion of Busan’s capability to host the Expo and nationwide enthusiasm ▲support for Busan’s bid through various international activities such as the international labor movement ▲creating nationwide excitement for Busan’s Expo bid through the united efforts of 1.03 million union members of the Federation.
Afterwards, they will hold a meeting with Mayor Park Hyung-joon and tour the Bukhang area, the planned site for the Expo.
At the meeting, Mayor Park will discuss cooperation matters for the successful bid of the 2030 Busan World Expo and ask them to promote labor-management harmony to overcome the current difficult economic conditions.
Mayor Park Hyung-joon expressed gratitude, saying, “The successful bid for the 2030 World Expo in Busan will be an opportunity to elevate South Korea’s national prestige to the next level,” and “The support of the Korean Federation of Trade Unions, the leading organization in the labor sector, will be a great strength for our city’s bid for the 2030 World Expo.” He added, “The International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) inspection team, which visited Busan in April this year, was deeply impressed by the passionate support of Busan citizens and all of South Korea. Recently, a large-scale promotional event called ‘Busan Day in Paris’ is being planned in Paris, France, where the November General Assembly will be held. We are doing our best until the very end. Please continue to support us until the moment of decision to ensure the World Expo is hosted in Busan.”
