Announcement of the 'Trade Best' Rankings for the First Half of This Year
The brand that received the most attention in the limited edition consumer-to-consumer (C2C) market in the first half of this year was Nike. Nike sneakers ranked high in both the 'highest price increase' and 'highest sales volume' categories, also known as the 'premium' sales segment.
According to SoldOut, a limited edition platform operated by SLDT, the product with the highest resale transaction amount compared to its release price in the 'SoldOut Trade' C2C service during the first half of this year was the 'Nike SB Dunk Low Ben & Jerry's Chunky Dunky,' which rose by 1372%.
Launched in 1978, the famous American confectionery brand Ben & Jerry's collaborated with Nike to create this shoe, which features a yellow swoosh resembling melting banana ice cream and vibrant colors. The initial release price in the summer of 2020 was 129,000 KRW, but the average resale price on SoldOut in the first half of this year reached approximately 1.77 million KRW, increasing more than 13 times.
The 2nd to 5th places were occupied by limited edition sneakers collaborated with the famous American rapper Travis Scott. These include the Air Jordan 1 High OG SP Travis Scott Fragment Military Blue, which saw a 1331% price increase, as well as the Air Jordan 1 Retro Low SP Travis Scott (1131%), Nike SB Dunk Low Travis Scott (1055%), and Air Jordan 1 Low OG SP Travis Scott Fragment Military Blue (1042%), all of which increased more than tenfold compared to their release prices.
Regardless of price, the product with the highest transaction volume was Nike’s 'Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Chicago 2022,' released last year. This model is a reissue of the original 'Jordan 1 OG Chicago' first launched in 1985 and was released in December last year, gaining significant popularity. Following this, the Nike Dunk Low Retro White Black, nicknamed 'Bumgorae,' ranked second in 'highest transaction volume.' The 3rd to 5th places were occupied by the Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG SP Travis Scott Sail and Leisure Rock, Nike Dunk Low Retro Grey Fog, and Apple AirPods Max Silver (officially released in Korea), respectively.
A SoldOut representative stated, “Nike, which has attracted attention with iconic collaborations, appears to be gaining high popularity in the limited edition C2C market as well,” adding, “SoldOut will do its best to provide fast and accurate inspection services so that customers can trade limited edition products with confidence.”
