Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will hold the "5th Gangbuk-gu Mountain Culture Festival" on the 16th at the Meeting Square in Ui-dong under the theme "Mountains Meet Culture."
The Mountain Culture Festival is an event that widely promotes the district's historical, cultural, and tourism resources by utilizing the beautiful natural scenery of Bukhansan Mountain and the mountain facilities located in Gangbuk-gu. The festival is hosted by Gangbuk-gu and sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Gangbuk Cultural Foundation.
Marking its 5th edition, the Mountain Culture Festival will feature Bukhansan trekking, musical performances, and various experiential programs. The event will open with a Bukhansan trekking session at 9:30 a.m. on the 16th, where mountaineers and residents will participate together. The trekking course starts from the Meeting Square and follows a round-trip route passing Baegungyo Bridge and Harujae Pass. Residents wishing to join the trekking should gather at the Meeting Square in Ui-dong by 9 a.m. and register on-site.
From 12:30 p.m., a variety of celebratory performances will take place at the Meeting Square in Ui-dong, beginning with busking performances by Gangbuk-gu performing artists and a Taekwondo demonstration by the Gangbuk-gu Taekwondo Association. The opening ceremony will be followed by an LED water Nanta show, an indie band performance by singer Ochu Project, a magic and juggling show, and a musical performance by Bicycle Riding Scenery.
Additionally, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., experiential booths offering healing close to nature will be operated, including ▲acorn caricature drawing ▲pressed flower crafts ▲making ceramic keyrings shaped like hiking bags ▲wooden flower ring making ▲natural insect repellent making ▲mountain tent mood lamp making ▲photo zone operation ▲mountain tea ceremony experience (tea blending) ▲mountaineering safety class ▲mime balloons, among others.
At the same time, free climbing experiences will be available at the Bukhansan International Climbing Center located next to the Meeting Square in Ui-dong. The experience uses an auto-belay system, allowing anyone to easily and safely enjoy the thrilling charm of climbing.
