Seongdong-gu Hosts Cultural Creative Industry Festival 'Creative×Seongsu' High School Fashion Model Contest

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) will host the Culture Technology (CT)-based cultural creative industry festival, ‘Creative×Seongsu,’ in the Seongsu-dong area for seven days from September 18 to 24.

Organized by the Seongdong Cultural Foundation, the inaugural ‘Creative×Seongsu’ carries the slogan “Interwoven, Boiling, and Overflowing in Seongsu.” While previous events were institution-centered with resident participation, this edition aims for a sustainable and future-oriented smart cultural city by fostering collaboration among creative enterprises located in Seongdong-gu, cultural citizens, and the district itself.

The festival, held throughout Seongsu-dong including at S Factory and Heyground, features major programs such as ▲‘CT Fair,’ a corporate expo leading future industries through advanced culture technology ▲‘Conference Field,’ a forum themed on sustainable cities and culture ▲‘Keynote Speech,’ special encounters with people who change society ▲‘Play Seongsu,’ an activity game enjoyed by navigating between virtual and real worlds.

Additionally, ‘Art Seongsu’ will showcase an art fair involving Seongsu-dong galleries and renowned artists, along with performances and forums for artists, planners, and creative industry workers. Other diverse programs include ▲‘Music Seongsu,’ filling the streets with jazz and popular music ▲‘Fashion Seongsu,’ featuring a fashion show that combines the Lee Sang-bong high school fashion and model contest with Seongdong Design Week, allowing visitors to experience the unique sensibility and culture of Seongsu.

On the 22nd, Yeonmujang-gil and Seongsu-iro streets in Seongsu-dong will be transformed into car-free zones hosting a flea market, various performances, and dazzling fashion shows, offering freedom and romance to visitors.

Seongsu-dong will also transform into a game theme park where anyone can become a player. Using smartphones, participants will engage in an alien capture mission appearing in Seongsu-dong and experience various programs utilizing virtual reality technology under the concept of “visiting a shoemaker to repair a broken glass slipper.”

From September 21, the ‘Smart Culture Convenience Store,’ a space where anyone can freely enjoy culture without restrictions, will be available at Seongsu Station on Subway Line 2. Inspired by everyday convenience stores, it will offer book recommendations and lending, music curation, and media art exhibitions. Instant photo booths and educational kiosks will also be accessible.

The festival programs will be either free or paid depending on the event, and related tickets can be purchased online in advance or on-site via the Creative×Seongsu website. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Seongdong-gu Cultural City Center.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “As the festival’s slogan suggests, I hope the creative enterprises, artists, and residents of Seongdong-gu can interweave, boil, and overflow with creative synergy. I also hope this festival serves as an opportunity for Seongdong-gu to advance as a smart cultural city, while creative enterprises become better places to do business and residents gain more opportunities to enjoy culture.”
