Jungnang-gu Inspects Food Manufacturing and Sales Businesses for Chuseok Preparations

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has launched thorough hygiene management for sacrificial food products, whose demand increases ahead of Chuseok.

The district conducted inspections of related food manufacturing and sales businesses from the 1st to the 8th of this month.

This inspection targeted a total of 150 places, including instant sales manufacturing and processing businesses and food service establishments, which see a significant increase in consumption of sacrificial foods during the Chuseok holiday. To ensure the safety of distributed food products, sampling inspections were also conducted on major sacrificial and gift foods sold at large marts and traditional markets, as well as rice cakes, Korean sweets (Hangwa), and processed fish and meat products that sell more during the holiday.

The main inspection items included ▲whether manufacturing or sales were conducted without registration ▲whether expired products or ingredients not permitted for food use were used ▲hygienic handling of food ▲compliance by business operators ▲false country of origin labeling, etc.

As a result of the inspection, minor violations were immediately corrected, and no serious violations or unsuitable cases were found.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We are conducting meticulous inspections and thorough hygiene management in advance for foods like sacrificial products that are more frequently sought during Chuseok. We will continue to manage so that residents can enjoy a joyful Hangawi without worries about ingredients and food hygiene safety.”
