Yoon and Kishida Hold Sixth Korea-Japan Summit Since March

Process for Holding the Korea-Japan-China Summit Meeting

President Yoon Suk-yeol held a summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on the occasion of attending the Group of Twenty (G20) summit on the 10th.

The presidential office announced in a press release that President Yoon held a 30-minute summit meeting with Prime Minister Kishida in New Delhi, India, on the same day.

The two leaders have met a total of six times over six months, including during President Yoon's visit to Japan in March. Most recently, they met in mid-last month at the trilateral summit of South Korea, the United States, and Japan held at Camp David, the U.S. president's private retreat.

The two leaders expressed their welcome for frequent meetings and communication. President Yoon urged, "Let us continue active meetings in the second half of this year and proceed well with the process for holding the Korea-Japan-China summit." Prime Minister Kishida responded by expressing his active willingness to cooperate.

President Yoon and Prime Minister Kishida evaluated the recent development trend of bilateral relations, discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, and agreed to responsibly cooperate and contribute together on global issues.
