On the 10th, Suwan-dong in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it successfully held the '10th Suwan Eoullim Festival.'
This festival was organized by the Suwan-dong Residents' Day Promotion Committee to review the achievements of autonomous activities aimed at making the area a better place to live and to celebrate the 13th anniversary of Suwan-dong's establishment.
Park Byung-gyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, Kim Tae-wan, Chairman of the Gwangsan-gu Council, and about 900 local residents attended.
Starting with a residents' Ssangchae Bukchum (traditional drum dance) performance, various events such as a children's drawing contest, youth cultural festival, and residents' talent show were held.
At the commemorative ceremony, the footsteps of Suwan-dong, which has pioneered a new history of resident autonomy as a 'giant neighborhood' of 80,000 residents, were shared, and efforts to enhance autonomous capabilities were pledged.
In connection with the Eoullim Festival, a residents' general meeting was also held to decide the priority agenda for establishing the Suwan-dong village plan next year.
Kim Hee-jong, Chairman of the Suwan-dong Residents' Day Promotion Committee, stated, “We will continue to strive to ensure that the festival remains a place where everyone living together in Suwan-dong, regardless of age or gender, can freely come together and enjoy.”
