The Dong-A University Busan Saha-gu Child and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by presenting a children's nutrition and hygiene puppet show.
The puppet show, titled "The Story of Healthy Eating Habits of the Healthy Beauty and the Picky Beast," was organized to enhance the prevention of picky eating among infants and toddlers and to improve personal hygiene education effectiveness.
About 2,000 children from 74 daycare centers and kindergartens in Saha-gu, Busan attended the performance, which was held at Seongwon Art Hall in Gangseo-gu, Busan, from the 23rd to the 30th of last month.
A representative from a daycare center in Saha-gu, Busan, who watched the puppet show said, "It was good to convey the importance of desirable eating habits and teach the correct handwashing methods through a puppet show format that the children responded well to," adding, "I hope there will be more opportunities like this."
Center Director Yoon said, "It feels refreshing to resume performance education programs that we could not hold due to the COVID-19 situation," and expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the center staff and daycare and kindergarten teachers.
He added, "We will continue to develop various educational programs so that children can have healthier and safer eating habits."
The children's nutrition and hygiene puppet show is currently being held at Seongwon Art Hall in Gangseo-gu, Busan.
Since 2013, the Dong-A University Child Meal Management Support Center has led efforts to improve children's dietary habits and enhance the quality management, hygiene, and nutrition of meals at children's meal service centers. In July last year, it expanded its scope by adding the social welfare meal management support center project and changed its name to the "Child and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center."
Accordingly, the center has broadened its activities to include hygiene and nutrition management for small-scale meal service centers for the elderly and disabled, as well as supporting dietary education for residents.
Over the past 10 years, the center has consistently achieved excellent results in performance evaluations conducted by Busan City and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
