Fourth Participation Following the US, Vietnam, and Poland
Strategic Partnership with Indonesian Retail Association
"We will make every effort to actively promote the competitiveness of K-fashion not only in our country but also worldwide."
Choi Jun-ho, CEO of Fashion Group Hyungji, conveyed this ambition while accompanying President Yoon Suk-yeol on his visit to Indonesia, which lasts until the 8th. The business delegation participating in this trip was composed of representatives from the top 10 companies as well as leaders of firms actively operating or planning to enter the ASEAN market, including Indonesia. Fashion Group Hyungji has carried out economic diplomacy duties by accompanying President Yoon on four overseas trips, including those to the United States, Vietnam, and Poland.
CEO Choi stated, "I feel a tremendous sense of responsibility as this is my fourth consecutive economic diplomacy mission." During this visit, he signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Indonesian Retail Association and created opportunities for local expansion of the school uniform brand Hyungji Elite, footwear brand Esquire, and the top domestic women's wear brand, Women’s Crocodile. The Indonesian Retail Association includes about 40,000 member companies, comprising leading retail channels and enterprises driving Indonesia’s economy.
There are also plans to make investments in Indonesia. First, they will invest in equipment and secure additional land for the production facility currently operating on an 82,645㎡ (approximately 25,000 pyeong) site in the Tangerang area. To leverage Indonesia’s advantage of having a young population, Fashion Group Hyungji plans to transfer its technology and know-how and activate ODM and OEM businesses, which are order-based manufacturing services. They also intend to expand business-to-business (B2B) transactions targeting the global market and government procurement projects.
CEO Choi emphasized, "We will actively work not only to spread K-fashion through retail channels but also to secure competitiveness by entering procurement markets of various countries through military uniform support and supply."
Meanwhile, CEO Choi is the eldest son of Choi Byung-oh, chairman of Fashion Group Hyungji, and a second-generation business leader. He serves as the general president of Fashion Group Hyungji, president of Hyungji Elite, and CEO of Castelbajac, a famous French fashion company acquired and operated by the group. Following efforts to enter the U.S. market this year, he is focusing on becoming a global fashion company by expanding the supply chain in the ASEAN market through cooperation with large retail companies.
