Jungnang-gu Implements Parking Violation Alert Service... 30% Decrease in Violation Cases

Starting August, 'Illegal Parking Enforcement Notification Service' Launches; Significant Decrease in Illegal Parking Violations Compared to Last Year... Expectation for Safer Traffic Environment

Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) announced that the number of illegal parking violations captured by fixed CCTV cameras decreased by 30% compared to the previous year after analyzing illegal parking vehicles recorded throughout August.

The violations dropped from 1,338 cases in August 2022 to 928 cases in August 2023. This is attributed to the effect of the 'Illegal Parking Enforcement Notification Service' implemented since August 7 this year.

The 'Illegal Parking Enforcement Notification Service (Whistle)' is a program that sends text alerts to drivers parked in no-parking zones, informing them that they are in an enforcement area. The district introduced this service to alleviate parking difficulties and establish proper parking order.

The service targets vehicles operating in Jungnang-gu that have subscribed to the service, regardless of their place of residence. Applications can be made through the mobile 'Whistle (Integrated Parking Enforcement Pre-Notification Service)' app, the Whistle call center, or the Jungnang-gu parking notification service.

Users receive alerts when their vehicles are detected in fixed CCTV parking enforcement zones within Jungnang-gu. However, cases reported through the resident reporting system (Safe Report), enforcement by other agencies, or immediate enforcement zones are excluded. Upon receiving a notification text, drivers must immediately move their vehicles.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “We introduced the 'Illegal Parking Enforcement Notification Service' to reduce the burden of fines through pre-enforcement and to prevent repeated violations.” He added, “We expect this notification service to resolve illegal parking issues and create a convenient and safe traffic environment for both drivers and pedestrians.”
