From 12 PM on September 13, 10 billion KRW first issuance, from 12 PM on September 20, additional 11 billion KRW second issuance to promote local economic revitalization... 7% discount rate, usable at 11,467 Seoul Pay Plus affiliated stores in the region
Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) will issue 'Nowon Love Gift Certificates' worth 21 billion KRW to celebrate Chuseok.
The district will issue 10 billion KRW in the first round on September 13 and an additional 11 billion KRW in the second round on September 20.
In particular, the additional issuance of gift certificates is to fulfill one of the top 10 promises of Nowon-gu's 8th elected administration, 'Expansion of Nowon Love Gift Certificate issuance,' with the full discount rate supported by the district budget.
This aims to revive consumption sentiment weakened ahead of the Chuseok holiday, increase sales of local small business owners suffering from the economic downturn, and reduce the burden on households struggling with high inflation.
The first round of gift certificates for the second half will be sold from 12:00 PM on September 13, and the additional second round will be sold from 12:00 PM on September 20 through five apps: Seoul Pay Plus (SeoulPay+), T-money Pay, Shinhan SOL, Moneytree, and Shinhan Play. Each person can purchase up to 500,000 KRW per month combining both rounds (with a holding limit of 1.5 million KRW), and the discount rate on the gift certificates is 7%.
They can also be purchased with Shinhan credit and debit cards, and cancellations are possible at any time before using the gift certificates. If the gift certificates have been used, at least 60% of the purchase amount must be spent to receive a refund of the remaining balance excluding the 7% discount support.
The purchased gift certificates can be used at a total of 11,467 Seoul Pay Plus affiliated stores within the district, including restaurants, pharmacies, convenience stores, and academies. However, since the gift certificates are intended to support small business owners, usage is restricted at (quasi) large-scale stores, directly operated stores of large and medium-sized enterprises, gambling-related businesses, and academies with annual sales exceeding 1 billion KRW. Details on usage locations and other information can be checked through the Seoul Pay Plus app.
The district issued gift certificates worth 9 billion KRW last January and sold out completely. Given the high interest of residents in the Nowon Love Gift Certificates, the district expects this issuance to be sold out early as well.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “To keep our promise to residents, we decided to issue a total of 30 billion KRW this year, issuing 9 billion KRW in the first half and 21 billion KRW in the second half with 10 billion KRW in the first round and 11 billion KRW in the second round. We hope this will greatly help residents struggling with rapidly rising prices and local small business owners facing operational difficulties.”
