Japan announced on the 6th that there is "no abnormality" regarding the response of a leak detector at the contaminated water (referred to as "treated water" by the Japanese government) transfer facility for the ocean discharge from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced on the 7th that no leakage was found and explained that they will investigate the cause of the detector's activation and take necessary measures.
The discharge of contaminated water began on the 24th of last month. The first discharge volume of 7,800 tons is expected to flow into the sea by around 3 p.m. on the 10th. As of midnight on that day, the amount of discharged contaminated water was 6,113 tons.
TEPCO expects that the first discharge will be completed on the 11th of this month when the remaining water in the transfer facility is pushed out with filtered water. Afterwards, the entire facility for diluting and discharging contaminated water will be inspected and operational performance will be verified.
TEPCO plans to discharge 31,200 tons of contaminated water by March next year, which corresponds to about 2.3% of the contaminated water stored at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
