Dongseo University Selected for 5 Consecutive Years in Community Coexistence and Cooperation Support Project

Dongseo University has been selected for the Busan City Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project for five consecutive years.

With this selection, Dongseo University will receive a total of 120 million KRW in city funds by December 2024 to operate the ‘Evergreen Project Season 2’ program.

The Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project, hosted by Busan Technopark, is a pilot project first initiated nationwide by Busan City. It aims to strengthen the role of local universities as key institutions for solving regional issues and driving regional innovation by utilizing human and material infrastructure in the Busan area.

Dongseo University has experience operating the Disabled Media Festival and Centum City Barrier-Free Zone from 2019 to 2020, and the Gijang-gun Evergreen Project from 2021 to 2022, supported by the Community Win-Win Cooperation Support Project.

The university actively utilizes its specialized field of film and video by providing a film university curriculum from the faculty of the Im Kwon-taek College of Film and Performing Arts, and plans a regionally specialized performance involving students and local residents set against major tourist sites in Gijang.

Through this, local residents are expected to be encouraged to lead tourism revitalization as producers rather than consumers of content.

Professor Oh Se-jun, head of the Department of Musical Entertainment and the overall project manager, said, “Evergreen Project Season 2 provides various cultural, artistic, and hobby activities to residents of the Gijang area, strengthening their role as producers rather than consumers.”

He added, “In this Season 2, we plan to organize regionally specialized performances themed around the Eight Scenic Spots of Gijang to boost tourism in the Gijang area.”

Lee Hyun-dong, Deputy Director of the Shared Collaboration Center at Dongseo University’s LINC 3.0 Project Group, said, “We will collaborate with the AI and Smart Tourism ICC Council to ensure that the selected Evergreen Project Season 2 program becomes an exemplary case of shared collaboration programs linked with local governments.”
